Founders Bio

For over a decade Dr. Kacy Mixon-Gillis, PhD, LMFT has worked in academia and grant/portfolio management as a faculty member and project lead for a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) initiative producing online training on gender-based and family violence. Kacy received her PhD from the University of Florida (2013) and is a licensed marriage and family therapist specializing in trauma- informed mental health and psychological services. Kacy served on the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Counter- Trafficking in Persons (C-TIP) team from 2020-2022, managing various global C-TIP programming, research, and training initiatives. She has an extensive background in the community mental health sector as well as providing consultation/evaluation services in the US domestic violence, juvenile and dependency courts. She is the founder of KMG Consultants, LLC which supports organizations, universities, and agencies on domestic and international training, programming development, and grant writing/management. Kacy’s publications, research and trainings have focused on vulnerable child populations, psychological trauma, family/community violence, military family transitions, resilience, and human trafficking. Kacy’s federal grant writing/management work has involved the following U.S. Agencies: DoD, Department of Education (DoEd), USAID, Department of Justice (DoJ)-Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquent Prevention, and National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).
